Sojourner is the first Mars rover which landed on Mars on 4 July 1997, having been launched from Earth on 4 December 1996. The craft was intended for a mission lasting 7 sols (7 days), but lasted 83 sols (85 days) before finally losing connection on 27 September 1997. Sojourner remains on Mars, albeit currently inactive and most likely can no longer move due to its exhaustion in power supply.

The JPL Sojourner Mars Rover Action Pack is an action pack produced in 1997 designed in collaboration with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. It was the first of three Action Packs designed in collaboration with JPL. It was designed to recreate the Mars Pathfinder mission to study Mars and its environment.

This pack was one of the most popular Hot Wheels products of 1997, consistently selling out due to the hype the mission generated. The pack was thus re-released a number of additional times to cope with strong demand. This listing is for packages with the 1996 copyright date, and we believe an earlier release.

We were able to purchase a small number of these sets new in package. There is some wear and sun bleaching on the backer cards and yellowing on the plastic of these items due their age and prior storage.
