This is a used Intes MK-65 OTA in very good condition.  The optics are mostly clean, but there is some dust on both the interior or the meniscus and on the main mirror.  The case is functional, but the interior has seen better days. Notably, the mounting plate on the bottom is non-standard - it is not a Vixen or Losmandy configuration, although it is a simple matter to screw a Vixen dovetail onto this mounting plate.  We have taken these issue conditions into consideration in setting the price.

Comes with a matching finderscope and Intes 1.25" diagonal.

Includes:

  • 150mm Maksutov-Cassegrain
  • 1800 mm (f/12)
  • Multi-coated
  • Padded case
  • Intes 7 x 35mm finderscope
  • Intes 1.25-inch diagonal
  • Intes t-mount

Maksutov-Cassegrains are the ultimate take-anywhere telescopes. Despite their small dimensions they pack a powerful punch. Their high-resolution, diffraction-limited optical systems are multi-coated to maximize contrast and image sharpness.

This is a Russian-made Mak from Intes.  Known for its sharp optics, the field of view is very flat, and the image is as sharp at the edge as at the center of the field of view. There is also absolutely no false color, and images are razor sharp on the whole field of view.

Being Russian-made, it is built like a tank.  It is heavy and very sturdy. No plastic, everything is made of metal. The tube is painted with a thick and irregular beige paint. It is equipped with a handle on the top of the tube which proves very useful to carry the 6kg (13lbs) tube.

The MK65 has no mirror shift or flop when focusing because the primary is fixed - focusing is done with the Intes 1.25" diagonal, which has a helical focuser built in.  Additionally, the visual back is non-standard, so it will not accept aftermarket SCT equipment, like reducers or focusers.
