This is a Generation 1 ZWO filter holder for 2" filters - not the current Gen 2, so this will not fit in the current gen 2 filter drawer. It has M48 threads. This is in perfect, unmarked condition. The previous owner has thoughtfully 3D printed a hard plastic sleeve for this, with magnets. You reap the savings!
ZWO's filter drawer includes one 2" filter holder. However, you can purchase additional filter holders without having to buy the entire filter drawer all over again just for the holder. You can now purchase as many filter holders as you need and slide in the appropriate filter into the drawer as you like. The filter holder has standard M48x0.75 threads for 2" mounted astronomy filters.
This Gen 1 FD-M42 filter drawer has been discontinued and replaced by a new Gen 2 FD-M42 filter drawer. The new version is functionally identical to this Gen 1 version. Only the mechanical housing specifications have changed, with the result that the Gen 2 filter holder will not work with this item.
ZWO’s filter drawer makes it easy to insert and remove a 2" filter into your optical train between your camera and telescope. It uses a magnetic holder for a precise, secure, and repeatable fit. This device is perfect for imagers who want to quickly swap out filters without using large and heavy filter wheels.
The ZWO filter drawer holds a single mounted 2-inch filter with standard M48x0.75 threads. It includes an M42x0.75 external thread on the camera side, a M48x0.75 internal thread for the mounted filter itself, and a M48x0.75 internal thread on the telescope side. Also includes ZWO M48-M42 adapter that convert one side of the drawer so you can use it between two M42 threaded accessories or two M48 theaded accessories. It also serves as a 21mm spacer to help achieve the correct backfocus distance without using a T2 extension ring. With a diameter of just 66mm, the ZWO filter drawer is also perfect for using in front of the optics of Hyperstar systems or Celestron RASA astrographs.
